Welcome to the Fox Creek Inn, a romantic Vermont country Inn, minutes to Killington

Nestled in a private valley on seven acres and surrounded by the Green Mountain National Forest, Fox Creek Inn is the perfect getaway to experience a Vermont country inn. Our location feels remote, and certainly does assure peace and tranquility, but we are delightfully close to many local attractions and outside activities. We are located between Killington/Pico mountains and downtown Rutland. Additionally, Woodstock, Quechee Gorge, Middlebury and Manchester are all just a gentle 45 minute drive away.

I've been busy outside cleaning up and discovering lots of fun things.  New variety (among the many) of mushroom.  Might be a scarlet elfcup, but not too sure.  There are lots of triliums in the woods as well as a blanket of pretty little purple flowers/groundcover.  I'm delighted to see the daffodils blooming and there must be a "thousand" Lily of the valley coming up. The Sweet Bay Magnolia at the front door of the inn has started to bloom.  The fiddlehead ferns are coming up nicely and perhaps some will be harvested for a breakfast.  The daylilies along the drive are coming up, too.  The hostas and hydrangeas are coming along with the other plants.  The summer furniture is out on the front porch and sitting in the rocking chairs and listening to the creek babble is very soothing. Fox Creek Inn was once the Barstow estate and I'm quite sure "in it's day" it was a sight to behold.  As I've been working to clear new areas around the inn, I've uncovered what was once a fountain in a wooded area.  Trying to make this new area a place where guests can sit and enjoy some quiet time surrounded by the birds singing and the creek trickling by.  I spotted a large, beautiful red fox running through the woods as I worked.  Next project is repairing some winter damage to the driveway.  The Eastern Phoebes have returned and are building their nest near the front door of the inn.  It's fun to watch them coming and going.

With only eight rooms we can ensure highly personalized attention for all of our guests. Our breakfasts are prepared with the freshest local ingredients and are designed to suit all tastes and dietary needs.

While the Inn and our amenities might make you want to just kick back and relax, we are perfectly located for year round outside activities. In the spring and summer we are a center for activities such as hiking, cycling, mountain biking, kayaking and fishing. Vermont's spectacular fall foliage may be seen from a canoe on the lake or from a gondola ride to the top of Killington, where you can see the breathtaking canopy from above.

Our winters are crisp and cold, typically with good powdery snow. We are less than two miles from world class cross country skiing and snowshoeing, so you can be on a trail within minutes of the inn and downhill skiing at Killington is less than 15 minutes away.

Fox Creek Inn is comfortable and welcoming on the inside and exhilarating on the outside. Come and explore or sit and relax, either way you are sure to enjoy Vermont at its very best.
